Washington DC Holocaust Museum
A living memorial to the Holocaust, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum opened in Washington, DC in 1993. A powerful permanent exhibition, “The Holocaust,” covers three floors and is divided into three distinct sections: “Nazi Assault,” “Final Solution,” and “Last Chapter.” Visitors will encounter over 900 artifacts along with dozens of television displays and four theaters broadcasting historic film footage, plus eyewitness testimonies.
This free Washington, DC museum also offers leadership training programs and sponsors on-site and traveling exhibitions as well as Holocaust commemorations, including American’s annual observance in the U.S. Capitol. In addition, the Center for Advanced Holocaust Studies strives to keep the field of Holocaust studies growing strong.
