Off the National Mall, the National 9/11 Pentagon Memorial pays tribute to the 184 lives lost in the attack on the Pentagon in 2001. It's close to the Marine Corps Memorial and the Air Force Memorial.

Arlington National Cemetery

The most famous cemetery in the United States, Arlington National Cemetery is the final resting place for members of the U.S. military, including President John F. Kennedy. Visitors pay respect at his gravesite, where the Eternal Flame burns bright. Funerals do take place here, but it is also open to tourists wishing to visit the Tombs of the Unknown, and the many monuments and memorials. These include Memorial Amphitheater, the Korean War Contemplative Bench, and the Women in Military Service for America. Arlington is a 20-minute drive from our Fairfax hotel.

National Zoo
