Good news selfie enthusiasts: White House Lifts Photo Ban

You no longer have to risk being arrested while taking a selfie at the White House. A longstanding camera and photo ban has been lifted allowing visitors to flick as much as they want along the White House tour route, provided they don't interfere with other guests (this may or may not include photobombing).

To announce the change in policy, the First Lady posted this video on her Instagram account. Visitors are also encouraged to post photos using the hashtag #WhiteHouseTour.

Big news! Starting today, we're lifting the ban on cameras and photos on the @WhiteHouse public tour. Visitors are now able to take photos and keep those memories for a lifetime! 📷 To learn how to schedule a tour with your friends and family, visit whitehouse.gov.

Permitted items include phones and compact still cameras with a lens no longer than 3 inches. Still under prohibition are video cameras, including any action camcorders, cameras with detachable lenses, tablets, tripods, monopods, camera sticks, flash photography and live streaming.
